Exciting news from the ALT-SPF consortium!

Long-awaited and now published – the ALT-SPF international ring study results are here!
With the mission to find accurate, safe, and cost-effective alternatives to the ISO 24444 SPF testing method, the consortium has finally published its results.
We at C+K are proud to have contributed with our innovative, non-invasive technology: LED-based Hybrid Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (LED-HDRS).
Across multiple European labs, our method delivered SPF values highly consistent with ISO 24444, while UVA-PF results stayed well within the expected tolerance range. Even better – the data showed excellent reproducibility and inter-laboratory consistency.
Results demonstrate that LED-HDRS is a robust and non-invasive method for accurate sunscreen testing. Check out the publication here.
Although the LED-HDRS method was not included in the new ISO 23698 for HDRS, our findings clearly demonstrate that LED-HDRS provides a reliable and accurate alternative for testing sunscreen efficacy.
At Courage + Khazaka electronic GmbH, we are proud to contribute to this important step towards safer and faster testing methods.
The data of all methods evaluated in the ring study are compiled in the brand-new Supplement of the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 47, Issue S1.
